The season started almost five months ago, but the hopes of a handful of teams will be riding on the final day of play proceeding. East Albury has been one of the association's perennial finalists over the past five years, and if play does go ahead, with officials set to leave that decision until tomorrow, the opening stage of the chase is crucial, according to East Albury's Grant Lewis. "The first couple of hours I think the game will be won and lost and there's obviously going to be some moisture about." St Pat's holds a three point-lead over the Crows. "Our batting line-up for years has been inconsistent, we tend to lose wickets in patches, but if we can avoid that, and get off to a good start, chasing 240 we should be around the mark." Meanwhile, fifth-placed Dederang sits less than two points above the Patties. And the Demons will resume on one for 30, chasing North Albury's monster total of 411. Elsewhere, competition leaders Wodonga are three for 67, chasing Albury's 139, while the Lavington Panthers skittled relegation-bound Yackandandah for 81, and hold a 76-run lead with one wicket left. Belvoir and Tallangatta, meantime, will play a one-dayer after no play was possible. And the association will reduce the number of provincial teams from 10 to eight by the 2011-2012 season.
