After knocking off defending champion Sam Groeth, finishing a rain-delayed semi final yesterday morning, Matt Reid was ready for top seed Ben Mitchell.
Mitchell was also forced to play two games yesterday, defeating Michael Look in two sets in the second semi.
The final's first set could have gone either way, with the pair trading games, when Reid got lucky in the tie break.
He gave his good mate the run around, before Mitchell faltered under pressure, handing Reid the first set 7-6.
Reid dropped the second 4-6, before letting tensions boil over in the third, despite having an early lead.
Not that it changed the end result, the 21 year-old won 6-1.
Reid now heads to the Australian Open wild card playoffs and is in the top 300.
"I knew it after I won my quarter final match, so the rest of the week was just a bonus," he said.
Saturday's wash out also forced Casey Dellacqua to play two games yesterday, although she made short work of both competitors.
She beat Japan's Misa Eguchi 6-4 6-2 in the semi, before downing third seed Isabella Holland 6-2 6-2.
The win capped off a superb week of tennis for Dellacqua, who didn't drop a set over the week-long tournament.
"I think I've just really put myself in a good position to do really well next year, and that's what I wanted to use these tournaments for," she said.
