Kylie Yates

De ja vu. This is the second time Kylie has worked in the Canberra newsroom. Kylie took up the Chief of Staff role in October 2008 and has relished the challenge.

In 2002, she was the Deputy Chief of Staff and police/court reporter before becoming a ministerial media adviser for a Federal Cabinet Minister in 2005. After three yeasr in politics, she moved to the Australian Medical Association as a communications adviser.

Kylie started her journalism career back in the mid 90s, working for ABC TV and radio in Brisbane before heading off to work for Channel Seven throughout Queensland.

In 2001, Kylie joined the WIN Network as a producer/journalist in Rockhampton before taking up the Deputy Chief of Staff role in Canberra.

Some of the top stories she's covered have been the Childers backpackers fire, the Canberra bushfires and several high-profile court cases and murders which even made it to BBC News and SkyBSB in the UK.

Kylie's a huge Brumbies fan and goes to most home games. You can often find her in the stands with Brumbies face paint on, much to the embarrassment of her husband.

Other hobbies include musical theatre, catching up with friends and family, reading and nutting out a cryptic crossword.
