Marita Ramia

Marita, one of six children, was raised in Toowoomba. With her mother a private speech and drama teacher, from an early age Marita was destined for a career involving communication and presentation.

In 1999 Marita began a degree in Journalism and Multi Media at the University of Southern Queensland, while taking on some of her mother's speech students and working part time at WIN Television.

Towards the end of her degree Marita was offered a position as a cadet journalist in Townsville, where she began her career as a multi-tasking journalist and presenter.

After twelve months Marita headed back to Toowoomba to fill the position of back-up news reader and full-time reporter. Her career as a journalist continued to flourish, covering major events such as the Waste Water Recycling debate, Toowoomba's Triple Murder and the cancellation of it's biggest event, The Carnival of Flowers.

In 2005 Marita married her long time partner Leigh Ramia, also a Toowoomba local and in October 2006 they had their first child, Amelia. Marita left the network for 6 months maternity leave, remaining as back-up news reader, but was keen to return when a full-time reading position was made available.

In her spare time Marita enjoys spending time with her daughter and husband, family occasions, swimming and photography.
