A fifty-year old man charged with manslaughter has been granted bail in the Bundaberg Magistrates Court today.
Charges against Michael Patrick McGuire were upgraded last week after his alleged victim died in a
Leaving court this morning, McGuire's friends and family were determined to stick by their loved one, members of the loyal group putting up the ten thousand dollars required to secure his bail.
Originally charged with the grievous bodily harm of his neighbour Col Robert Lavering, McGuire's charges were upgraded to manslaughter after his alleged victim died.
Police believe sixty-six year old Lavering fell to the ground after a dispute with the accused on Christmas Eve.
Defence lawyer Simon Burgess told the court today, "(Lavering) was fragile, had a shunt in his head and was airlifted where he remained on life support."

It's not the first time the pair have fought, Mr Lavering's death comes after an alleged ten year feud over gates between the neighbours' properties.
But today Sergeant Robyn Shapcott told the court McGuire was unlikely to flee the area, the fifty year old a well known member of the Gin Gin community for fifteen years.
McGuire will reappear for committal mention on May the tenth.
