Price Whatley, a top-notch detective, was recently fired after 12 years with the NYPD homicide squad. Cynical and broken, Price suffers from the tragic loss of his wife, a loss he tries to hide by any means necessary. When he teams up with Kate and gets a taste of her strong belief system and her sense of 'why not' and 'what if,' he begins to see that maybe there is a grander scheme, and an opportunity to make sense of things and make a difference. Death in this lifetime may just mean a second chance for an old soul.
