Four new homes in Mildura East are part of a massive boost to affordable housing in the district.
Six more houses are scattered around Mildura, part of Loddon Mallee Housing Service's rapid expansion.
As part of the Federal and State Government's Nation Building package, a number of families will soon be able to find housing that fits their budget.
Niall Hensey, Loddon Mallee Housing: "I think the cost of housing in Australia has recently reached a point where affordability is a problem for a lot of people."
New Chief Operations Officer Niall Hensey says the service's target group encompasses a broad range of people, and these projects will cater for most.
"We also recognise our role in terms of reducing the waiting lists for the Office of Housing and we take up to fifty percent of our referrals from the Office of Housing."
Construction will be in two stages, with the first raft of projects to be completed by the end of June.
Meanwhile, Loddon Mallee Housing is expanding into Robinvale and will build ten new houses. It's all part of the service's plan to increase affordable housing across the district.
Niall Hensey says the service is starting from scratch in Robinvale, and is doing what it can to address the need.
"Perhaps we start from a lower base in Robinvale, we have less there already and we do know that there is a level of concern around housing."
