For emergency crews their work was cut out for them well before the rescue had even begun.
Forced to climb half way up Table Top Mountain to reach the injured.
For twenty six year old It was an afternoon climb gone horribly wrong.
Falling fifty metres before becoming wedged between a tree and the embankment, which emergency crews say saved the woman's life.
SES volunteers and emergency services answered the SOS around one o'clock, braving the dangerous and slimy terrain.
Once on a stretcher and stabalised, their next challenge was winching the injured woman to safety.
The Rescue Five hundred helicopter hovered over the mountain waiting for crews to move the woman to an open area.
Suffering serious injuries, the woman was flown to Brisbane Royal Hospital.
The woman's friend a twenty six year old male was also winched to safety after suffering from heat stroke and exhaustion.
More than thirty people were involved in the rescue, taking over four hours to complete.
