A bid to overturn a decision to spend more than a million dollars on Lithgow's golf course has been lost.

A move to have the contract scrapped was rejected by majority of councillors at a meeting last night.

After a year of negotiations, the City Council has renewed a 5 year lease with the golf club operators, costing rate payers $250,000 each year.
