The Tasmanian Premier continues to deny he misled Parliament over the botched re-appointment of former Police Commissioner Richard McCreadie.
He's now insisting it's his Liberal counterpart who has some explaining to do.
Mr Bartlett was enjoying the sunshine today, joining thousands of people across the state for the inaugural Tasmania Day celebrations.
The event aims to pay tribute to volunteer workers and encourage a sense of community spirit - but the Premier was feeling less than charitable about the Opposition Leader.
He claims it's Mr Hodgman who will have questions to answer when Parliament returns.
Mr Bartlett said "Yesterday's media release was deliberately misleading and deliberately misquoted or in fact took quotes that I'd made out of context for his own political gain."
Mr Bartlett was less forthcoming on whether Acting Police Commissioner Darren Hine had warned him of possible criminal charges against Richard McCreadie before the Premier announced the former top cop's reappointment last October.
He said "I do not have a recollection of anything that dissuaded me at the time and obviously, obviously I wasn't dissuaded at the time."
The opposition parties say that's not good enough, and have repeated calls for Mr Bartlett to provide a thorough account of why he persisted with Mr McCreadie's appointment despite the warnings.
Shadow Attorney-General Vanessa Goodwin said "He needs to be straightforward and honest with the people of Tasmania and with the Parliament about the circumstances surrounding the appointment."
Acting Greens Leader Kim Booth said "David Bartlett needs to hold a media conference, he needs to come absolutely clean about everything surrounding this sorry affair."
Mr Bartlett reversed his decision to appoint Mr McCreadie after advice from the Solicitor-General but his opponents say the whole saga could have been avoided if he'd heeded the earlier warnings.
