A ceremony to remember the six hundred and 45 men who died aboard HMAS Sydney nearly 70 years ago was held on Hobart's waterfront this morning.
The ship went down in a battle with German vessel the Kormoran off the coast of Western Australia in 1941.
The resting place of the Sydney was found only last year.
Among those at the ceremony, two sons remembering their fathers.
Organiser Bob Gibbs said "These blokes sailed away to do what they had to do. And disappeared. Yeah, I think we have to remember I think it's very important that we remember."
The names of 46 Tasmanians who were on board the Sydney are listed at the waterfront memorial.
