The state government's opening it's purse yet again - this time five million dollars is going towards making Tasmania more bushfire ready.
Strategies include immediate removal of roadside vegetation and the creation of community refuges.
Authorities identified a number of problems after Victoria's Black Saturday bushfires.
One of them - that many people didn't know where to go to reach safety.
Creating refuges and neighbourhood safe places for Tasmanian communities is a part of the government's fire readiness plan.
Chief Fire Officer Mike Brown said "It's a place that will be clear of bushfire fuel and it will be a place that people can seek some refuge if they have left their decision too late about leaving."
The Premier believes there's still time for his five million dollar funding injection to make a difference.
Premier David Bartlett said "And that will boost capacity in what will no doubt be a challenging summer that the state government, and I know that the fire service are planning for and taking very seriously."
An extra one and a half million dollars is to be spent clearing roadside vegetation.
There'll be another sixteen fire fighing positions created within the Parks and Wildlife Service and almost eight hundred thousand dollars to better equip volunteer brigades.
The Premier has a safety message for all Tasmanians.
Mr Bartlett said "Get prepared around your own homes and take this summer very seriously, it has the hallmarks of a very challenging summer for us."
The Fire Service says the dangerous bushfire period will be late January through to March.
